Get to Know Charlotte: The Creator Behind Charlotte’s Plant Kitchen

Colourful food, creative recipes and a genuine love for making plant-based eating feel approachable...that’s what you’ll find when you step into Charlotte’s Plant Kitchen.

Charlotte is part of our Creator Community, and we caught up with her to find out where her love of plant-based cooking began, how sharing recipes online grew into something much bigger, and why she believes eating more plants should feel exciting rather than restrictive.

Tell us a little about yourself and how Charlotte’s Plant Kitchen began.

My journey into plant-based food started after discovering the Pick Up Limes YouTube channel. It inspired me to become more creative in the kitchen, and as I started experimenting, I realised I naturally found vegan food much more appealing.

In 2020, I began documenting some of the things I was making online and eventually created @charlottesplantkitchen.

I wanted to show people that vegan food doesn’t have to be boring or complicated, including for those of us who eat gluten-free!

What started as somewhere to share my own recipes has since grown into an amazing community of food lovers, and that has really encouraged me to take content creation more seriously.

What do you love most about plant-based cooking?

I love how creative it can be.

There can sometimes be an assumption that eating more plant-based food means giving things up, but my experience has been the complete opposite. It feels like a whole new world of food opens up.

There’s so much flavour, colour and goodness to be found in plants, and I love finding different ways to bring those things together.

What do you hope people take away from your recipes?

My main goal is always to make plant-based cooking feel accessible, vibrant and delicious.

You definitely don't have to be strictly vegan to enjoy plant-based food. If one of my recipes encourages someone to try something new or simply add a few more vegetables to their plate, that's a win for me.

Food should feel enjoyable rather than intimidating.

Has your journey with plant-based food influenced other areas of your life?

Definitely.

Plant-based eating has gone hand-in-hand with finding my niche creatively, but it has also helped me develop a love for moving my body that I honestly didn't think was possible before.

For me, it's become part of a much broader appreciation for feeling good and looking after myself.

Where do you find inspiration for your content?

The online food community is a huge source of inspiration.

There are so many talented people creating incredible things, and I never stop being inspired by seeing what other people are cooking, experimenting with and sharing.

That's one of my favourite things about being part of this space — there's always something new to discover.

What would you say to someone who wants to eat more plant-based food but doesn't know where to start?

Don't think about it as restriction.

Instead of focusing on the foods you might be removing, think about all the new ingredients, flavours and combinations you can start exploring.

You don't have to completely overhaul the way you eat overnight either. Start by finding a few meals you genuinely love and build from there.

Plant-based food can be colourful, comforting, indulgent, nourishing and everything in between.

Finally, what can people expect when they follow Charlotte's Plant Kitchen?

Lots of colourful, approachable plant-based food!

I want the recipes I share to feel achievable while still being exciting. Whether someone is vegan, gluten-free, trying to eat more plants or simply looking for something delicious to make, I hope there's always something that inspires them.
